I\u2019d say: <em>You can only tell stories at eye level.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, you can try a different approach\u2014puff yourself up, sound clever, look smart. But chances are, your audience will tune out or quietly slip away. They\u2019ll sit there like inflatable pool toys slowly losing air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As curators, we vanish from the stage once the exhibition is complete, as Werner Hanak once put it. That means we don\u2019t get to see the glassy-eyed stares of visitors trying to wade through texts that feel like lectures. But here\u2019s the thing: <em>Stories don\u2019t lecture.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stories are campfires. Stories are \u201cHey, I have to tell you something!\u201d Stories are contagious. They get passed around like hot, greasy pancakes: \u201cYou have to try this!\u201d Stories are delicious.
